Let's understand CapPS with this pictorial example :
When you get an order from a customer, you need to create a sales order in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. But before you do that, make sure you gather all the necessary details from the customer. To know the procedure of creating a sales order you can go through this link
https://www.sapconinstruments.com/app/note/How to Create Sales Order
After Submitting Sales Order One can create material Request as per capacity using "Create Material Request" button.
After clicking on this button a message will appear like this:

After creating Material Request the next step is to plan the Sales Order. For this click on the "Plan Sales Order" button:

This Pop-up will show. In this window you need to select the "Preferred Planning Date" and "Action" and then submit it.

After submitting it will set the MREQ date. In this Screenshot "06-08-2024" date is allotted for the production planning. Although you entered "05-08-2024" but capacity is not available for preferred planning date, that's why another date allotted.

It is as simple as like you book a Train ticket online. As you ensure all the details are correct while final payment procedure; you should check all the details about customer when finally submitting a sales order. Let's see this image. Here you can see 2 seats are occupied, 3 are vacant and 1 seat is reserved for urgent booking. The same thing we need to do while planning with CapPS.
CapPS is having an amazing feature to check manufacturing capacity of the product. For this you need to click on "Check capacity" button after submitting the sales order :

After clicking on "check capacity" a pop-up will appear on the screen, which will show the capacity is available or not:

It will show the detailed report of sales order related to same /sharing resources and workstations during the same period.

With the CapPS you can track your order as well. We are well known; how to track orders on a shopping app(Like Amazon,Flipkart). So understand the order tracking in CapPS through this example. To know the status of your SO, Just click on the “ Get Live Status” button.

After click " Get Live Status", a new window “Finished Goods Aggregation” will appear in which you can see the overall details about the SO. Just look at the screenshot :

You can see various fields here. In WOStatus you can see the status is "Not Started" and in the workstation field you can see where is the trolley now; It will show the manufacturing process on which stage.
Special Case
Make a habit to keep 10% of capacity free from planning while assigning production planning date to any regular Sales Order. After this reserved capacity is occupied and then another urgent order comes in, so what is the next procedure ? => please refer to question no. 6." (Presuming you have already referred question Number 3)
It is the same like you book a train ticker online for “Tatkal Reservation”.
Note: You need to check product quantity as well while checking the WO status. Product quantity should be larger than your required quantity. You can check the quantity of multiple order as well to fulfill your required quantity i.e. Your customer wants 10 Nos of product, So you can shift the SO of row no 5 & 6 where total capacity is 10 and allot the same date for your urgent order.

If WO status is in transferred or in-process stage, there is no meaning to shift it from planning because capacity will not be freed and the best advice is talk to the customer for the next available date.

If WO created but PP(Production Planning) date is not selected, instantly it can be removed or closed.
If WO status is in transferred or in-process stage:
