Coat-Endure – for Sticky Media

Coat-Endure is a microcontroller based compact coat-immune admittance level switch. It is suitable for sticky solids and pastes. The device has been designed for compact silos and packaging machines where material has tendency to stick on the probe.

Mounting Arrangement for Coat-Endure

The instrument when calibrated at a single point i.e. in air, can be used with a variety of materials for level detection. When material reaches the switching point, the instrument detects the presence of the material and changes the outputs accordingly. The relay contacts / PNP output / current output can be used for maintaining the level of the material within the desired range in the tank.

Principle

Coat-Endure is an improvement over traditional principle of admittance. The 3-element probe has alternating active and inactive regions which help the controller to calculate the extent of coating on probe. In effect, the device is able to identify the relative coating between the sense and the shield by measuring their individual capacitances. As the coating immunity is controlled by the on-board microcontroller, the extent of coating immunity can be set easily.

Applications Specifications
  • Coat-Endure is suitable for wide variety of powders, solids, pastes, slurries and liquids where Dielectric Constant(Er) > 1.4
  • For service temperature of more than 250 °C, Part Ceramic insulation is recommended
  • Note: Coat-Endure probes are application specific, for some applications it might be necessary to use a certain kind of probe. Please refer to the table before ordering your instrument, in case there is a doubt please contact our application engineers to study your application

Compact Probe lengths

Coat-Endure values your real estate, it performs its best even in short probe lengths of 65mm.

Traditional admittance level sensors are not as effective as Coat-Endudre in avoiding material build-up/coating in small probe lengths.

Saving Process changeover time in Packaging Machines

Industries such as packaging units often require packing batches of varied media(different dielectric constants). Standard Admittance level switches require re-calibration each time process material is changed.

Coat-Endure’s calibration is Application Material Independent; Once calibrated in an empty tank it can work with a wide range of non-conductive media.

Intelligent Coating Immunity

We understand manufacturing processes are dynamic; even with modern temperature control equipment, maintaining constant process conditions is not practically possible round the clock.

Coat-Endure successfully compensates the effect of varying temperature and material build-up with its microprocessor based switching algorithm.

Suitable for Sticky Conductive Materials

A first in the industry.

A concoction of chemicals, sticky slurries and dairy products such as yoghurt, honey, soya lecithin, tomato ketchup etc. are often viscous, sticky and more over conductive. As a first in the industry, Coat-Endure has been a successful level sensor for these applications.

Innovative range of outputs

Packaging plant manufacturers or OEMs(Original Equipment Manufacturers) desire outputs suitable at the end-user’s site. Relay and PNP (Open Collector PNP) outputs though standard are generally available only in separate models.

In a close understanding of our customer behaviour we have launched a single model with both Relay and PNP output with an input power supply from 24 V DC – 265 V AC on the same two terminals. This directly results in savings by reducing the required inventory.
